Refund Policy

1. Overview

This Refund Policy explains how refunds, cancellations, and billing corrections are handled for Handover, a service operated by Helmwise (Pty) Ltd.

2. Subscription Charges

Handover subscriptions are billed in advance on a recurring basis. By starting a paid subscription, you authorise the applicable recurring charge until the subscription is cancelled.

3. First Purchase Refunds

If this is your first paid Handover subscription, you may request a refund within 14 calendar days of the initial purchase by contacting hello@thehandover.app.

We review first-purchase refund requests in good faith and may deny a refund where we reasonably determine that the service has been abused, purchased fraudulently, or used in a way that is inconsistent with a genuine evaluation of the product, for example, where the account has been used to generate and deliver a substantial number of handover reports during the refund window.

4. Renewal Charges

Renewal payments are generally non-refundable once a new billing period has started, except where required by applicable law or where we determine that a billing error occurred.

5. Cancellation

Cancelling your subscription stops future renewals. Cancellation does not usually generate a refund for the current billing period, and you will normally retain access until the end of that paid period.

6. Duplicate or Incorrect Charges

If you believe you were charged incorrectly, charged twice, or charged after cancellation, contact hello@thehandover.app and include the email address used for purchase, the charge date, and any receipt or invoice details. We will investigate and correct verified billing errors.

7. Taxes and Processor Fees

Refunds, where approved, are typically returned to the original payment method. Any handling of taxes, currency conversion, or payment processor adjustments is subject to the rules of the payment provider and the customer's financial institution.

8. App Store Purchases

Purchases made through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store are subject to those platforms' own refund policies, which take precedence over this policy for those transactions. Refund requests related to in-app purchases made through a platform store must be submitted directly to the relevant store.

9. Consumer Protection Act

This policy is subject to the rights afforded to consumers under the South African Consumer Protection Act, 2008, and any other applicable consumer protection law. Nothing in this policy limits or excludes any non-waivable statutory rights you may have.
